Fitting and Grooming

1. See 2016 Season/Ohio Livestock Tampering Rules

2. See Knox County Fitting and Grooming Regulations.

3. Show trunks are limited to the size of 32x20x16 inches. This is approximately the size of a 28 gallon plastic container.

4. Sawdust and wood shavings are the recommended bedding choices for poultry.

Barn Meeting – Saturday, July 23 at 3:30 p.m. in the Swine Arena

Breeding & Production Poultry Check-In – Saturday, July 23

1. Exhibitors need to be responsible for making sure their projects are checked in with the poultry barn supervisor.

Broiler & Tom Turkey Weigh-In – Saturday, July 23, following Market Fryer Weigh-In

1. Broilers – weight limit for a pen is 12.0 to 24.0 pounds. Birds will be weighed as a pen.

2. Turkeys – weight limit is 25.0 to 45.0 pounds.

3. All weights are final at time of weigh-in. No re-weigh of animals will be permitted.

Market Poultry Show – Monday, July 25, 9:30 a.m.

1. The market poultry show will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m.

2. Broilers – only birds purchased through one of the “Knox County Broiler Pools” will be permitted to show and sell. Can show one pen of three birds.

3. Turkeys – only birds purchased through the “Knox County Turkey Pool” will be permitted to show and sell. Can show one tom turkey.

4. All poultry should be disposed of at the close of the fair and not returned to the flock. Disease possibilities are many.

Chicken, Turkey & Waterfowl Showmanship – Tuesday, July 26, 9:30 a.m., followed by Poultry Master Showmanship Competition

1. Exhibitors may use broilers, fancys, pullers, hens, turkey or waterfowl in showmanship. You can only exhibit in one poultry showmanship class.

Production Poultry Show – Tuesday, July 26, immediately Following Showmanship

3. Can show in up to 4 classes. Only one entry per class. Must be in possession of the exhibitor by May 1 and cared for until release time at the fair.

4. All poultry should be disposed of at the close of the fair and not returned to the flock. Disease possibilities are many.

Junior Fair Sale - Thursday, July 28

1. Sale of Champions - 9:30 a.m.

2. Order of Sale – 12:00 Noon (Approx.) – Market Lambs, Dairy Market Feeders, Broilers, Fryers, Turkeys, Market Beef, Beef Feeders, Market Dairy Steers in Multi-Purpose Building

3. Coordination of broilers and turkeys for processing will be handled by the Junior Fair Sales Committee.

Production Poultry

Class Name Description

Pullets All layer breeds under 1 year of age. Must show 3 pullets.

Chicken Hens All layer breeds over 1 year of age. Must show 3 hens.

Pair of Ducks Must show a hen and a drake.

Goose Must show 1 goose or gander.

Fancy Breeds Must show 2 hens and one rooster
